Family Planning nurse – Gateway Surgery, Shenley, Hertfordshire

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Contraception and Sexual Health / Family Planning Nurse to become part of a dedicated team, working autonomously in a ‘One-Stop Shop’ model of sexual health care.
The benefits of a ‘One-Stop Shop’ includes convenience, public health benefits with a reduction in unplanned pregnancies and STIs, also reducing the stigma around sexual health as screening becomes the norm along side contraception needs.
Successful applicants will hold a recognised contraceptive qualification and have experience of working in single nurse led clinics.
This is an exciting and challenging role which would involve working independently and as part of a team, using well developed consultation skills and effective communication. You should have wide experience in contraceptive methods, including the skills to fit LARC, contraceptive implants and IUS/IUDs. It is necessary to have a wide experience of working to Patient Group Directions

Job Description

 We are looking for an experienced Nurse to promote the sexual health of young people in Greenwich and support the work of the CASH service to reduce unplanned pregnancy rates and improve uptake of long term reversible contraception (LARC).


We are looking for a nurse with the ENB 901, R78 or equivalent to work in various settings, including outreach venues, across the borough undertaking sexual health screening, health promotion and all types of contraceptive methods.


The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a high level of commitment and flexibility. You must enjoy working with men, women and young people. We need nurses who are keen to work autonomously but equally are able to work well within a team. The team welcomes innovation, forward thinking and proactive practitioners.

Plymouth NHS are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Contraception and Sexual Health / Family Planning Nurse to become part of a dedicated team, working autonomously but in collaboration with other professionals (including Youth Workers) to provide a Family Planning service throughout the City. There is a particular focus on young people, and on reducing unplanned pregnancies. The post will necessitate working within schools and other youth settings in addition to the clinical environment.

Successful applicants will hold a recognised contraceptive qualification and have experience of working in single nurse led clinics.

The post holder will be required to travel across the City.

This is an exciting and challenging role which would involve working independently and as part of a team, using well developed consultation skills and effective communication. You should have wide experience in contraceptive methods, including the skills to fit contraceptive implants. It is desirable that you have an independent prescribing qualification, or are prepared to work towards it. You will have had wide experience of working to Patient Group Directions.

Job Description:

The Contraception and Sexual Health Service provides community based services in health centres and elsewhere across the 3 locations of Central Nottinghamshire.

This is a sessional post.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team within our busy clinics, some of which take place in the evenings.

You must be a 1st level registered nurse who can demonstrate an interest in this specialist area of sexual healthcare. The preferred candidate will be in possession of a relevant qualification in Contraception and Sexual Health, or be prepared to work towards this.

Experience of the supply of medicines to P.G.D. is an advantage.

Excellent communication skills are essential. Flexibility and the ability to travel between locations is required.
