Clinic in a Box is an outreach service for young people and this post will involve the further development, delivery and monitoring of the service in community settings across Coventry.

You will need the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information, in sometimes challenging and difficult situations, and be able to build effective relationships with young people.

You will also act as a specialist/training resource for colleagues and partnership agencies.

You will require excellent communications skills and the ability to provide information at the appropriate level for your audience.

You will have a family planning qualification and experience of working with young people is advantageous.

Your role will be to manage and to ensure the day to day smooth running of clinics. You will need an appropriate contraception qualification, recent management experience and an interest in working with diverse groups within innovative and varied settings; including cross service working with Genito-Urinary Medicine.


You will need to be confident, dynamic and able to act as a positive role model for the team. Good communication skills are essential as is the ability to motivate the team and problem solve. You need to be focused while being client centred and have the ability to prioritise needs and demands.

Job Description

The post holder will be required to work flexibly, in a wide variety of clinics and other venues including STI screening and treatment, dedicated young peoples’ clinics and specialist clinics such as gynaecology, menopause, vasectomy and colposcopy.


As some clinics are nurse delivered we require a nurse who is qualified to initially issue hormonal contraception via Patient Group Directions or is willing to undertake ‘Initial Issue’ in-service training and assessment.


The ability to undertake cervical cytology and infection screening / testing is also required. In-service training will be provided if needed.


The mentorship of nurses undertaking CASH training courses is an essential requirement of the post so a teaching qualification such as “Preparation for Mentorship” or a willingness to undertake training is necessary.

For this post you must be a first level registered nurse, possess the ENB 901 (Family Planning in Society) or the ENB 103 and 903 (The Practice of Family Planning and Reproductive Sexual Health). The applicant must have demonstrable registration, experience and demonstrate experience in a setting providing sexual health services. You must be able to work independently, be an effective communicators and able to deliver a high standard of care.

The post is primarily based at the Hatherton Centre in central Walsall which provides a wide range of Family Planning Services. The post holder would be expected to deliver services from a range of educational facilities within the borough of Walsall and must therefore be willing and able to travel. A job share may be considered for this post.

Job Description

A new and exciting approach to sexual health is being developed across Buckinghamshire.  Sexual health is a priority in healthcare and more nurse led clinics are being developed to meet current needs in health education and health promotion. 

We require experienced nurses to join this new team and work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist, and must have an interest in sexual health and family planning.  A post registration qualification in a sexual health related subject is desirable. A sound clinical knowledge of sexually transmitted infections must be demonstrated.

 The post involves dealing with a diverse range of sexual health needs including sexual health history taking, venepuncture, intimate genital examinations, specimen collection, partner notification, screening for sexually transmitted infections and contraception advice. The post also has a health education role in promoting safer sex and improving the sexual health of the population.

 The post requires the applicant to have personal and professional maturity to discuss matters related to sex and sexuality in a non-judgmental way.

 The successful candidate must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and committed to making a difference.  This challenging role will require the applicant to be flexible in this ever changing environment to meet the needs of clients.

 The post requires minimum qualifications of a level 1 Registered General Nurse, or a health related degree with current NMC registration and post registration experience in sexual health clinics.
